Soundseeing III

Soundseeing is the title of an annual series of sound art events organized by a number of institutions in the German cities of Münster, Hörstel and Altenberge, all in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The third Soundseeing (Klänge zum Angucken) will take place from February 26th until July 10th, 2011.

Soundseeing III will include the last work made by German sound artist Rolf Julius, who recently passed away in Berlin: January 21st, 2011, was indeed “a sad day for small music,” as Steve Roden wrote in a touching article in remembrance of the artist. The work, from December 2010, will be installed by Rolf’s daughter, Maija Julius.

Pierre Berthet will install a ‘pocket version’ of his Extended Drops for Soundseeing III, at DA – Kunsthaus Kloster Gravenhorst, in Hörstel. The opening is on Saturday February 26th, at 19h.
The next day, Sunday February 17th, another installation of Pierre’s – Valve – will open at Cuba Cultur in Münster. Also that sunday evening at Cuba Cultur, Pierre will perform, with ‘Expirators and Drops’.

Here you can listen to a recording of Pierre Berthet performing Expirators and Drops in the workspace of Intro In Situ in Maastricht, on wednesday December 22nd, 2010.
